A transfer of Renato Sanches from Bayern to Milan has been in the works for quite a while now. Bayern have made public the amount of money that would pry Sanches from their clutches (“We’ll say that it wouldn’t be bad if a €48m offer came in for him.”), and Milan, for their part, have made no secret of their intention of signing the player.
But there’s more to it. Renato Sanches himself is reported to have recently stated that he wouldn’t mind leaving Munich this summer, underscoring his dissatisfaction with the lack of playing time he experienced last season. Manchester and Milan have both emerged as possible destinations for the nineteen-year-old midfielder, with the former having already tried to hijack Sanches’s signing for Bayern last year. If the latest reports are anything to go by- and it looks increasingly like that’s the case- the player prefers Milan over Manchester, seeing it as ” an interesting option”, as he deems his chances of playing time to be better in Milan than Munich (or Manchester, for that matter).
Having already signed Andre Silva, another client of super-agent Jorge Mendes’s, Milan are set to capitalize on their good rapport, with their yesterday visit to London thought to have also been centered on Sanches’s transfer. The only thing left is for the two clubs to agree on a fee. While they are still some way off from reaching an agreement, with Milan wanting a loan with option to buy, and Bayern pushing for an actual obligation to buy,it looks like it’s only a matter of time until the two clubs meet halfway.
Chances are one of the last big-name transfers that we’ve been hammering away at in the remainder of this transfer window, it’s gonna be Sanches. It’s not going to come cheap, but I think It’s worth it, and at this point, with everything the club’s already pulled off this summer, we can’t put anything past them.
